In Music class, we are learning Jingle Bells on glockenspiel or keyboard. We used the stopwatch to practice the tune for 7 minutes straight - wonderful progress was made with such a commitment to repetition! We also changed the words to Hot Cross Buns and took on the challenge of trying to sing and play at the same time:

Big Green Tree, Big Green Tree, Grab an Orna-ment and Deco-rate with me.

Click below for a printable PDF of Jingle Bells.

For students that want to learn to play it well, parents may help them focus on the last two measures of the song (GG F D C). Once this is mastered, the whole song will be a breeze!

Big Green Tree

Here's a fun holiday version of Hot Cross Buns - very easy song for children to learn but a bit of a brain bender to sing different lyrics to it! We are keeping the tempo, pitch, and rhythm the same, but changing the lyrics. Click below to print.

Cacaphony

We learned a fun word in music class this week: cacophony, mainly something we try to avoid when starting a song, so we try to start together in unison.
